Xiaomi will soon implement waterproofing in its smartphones

What makes Xiaomi high quality smartphones is no doubt. Even if Xiaomi meets the demands of users (as far as possible) about the implementation of new smartphones there is no doubt. So far, however, the Chinese giant has not heard an appeal from so many users: implementing waterproofing within Xiaomi smartphones.

Having a water-resistant smartphone has now become a feature that top brands hardly give up. For example, let's think of Sony which has been obtaining IP67 or IP68 certification for its smartphones for several years now, or even Samsung which, with its latest Galaxy S7, has implemented it as well.

According to a report from China, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that implementing such a feature would raise the cost of producing just 2 or 3 percentage points, so there will be no major problems in implementing it in the future. This means that making a smartphone waterproof and getting it certified IP67 or IP68 is pretty cheap.

At this point we are wondering why Xiaomi has not already made its smartphones waterproof. However, an even more pressing question comes to mind: "When will Xiaomi actually introduce the first water resistant smartphones?"

Looking forward to knowing your opinion as well, we want to remind you of the 4 core points on which Xiaomi's smartphone market will grow:

  • Flexible displays;
  • Owner Chipset;
  • Dual Camera Configuration;
  • Water resistance.
