Xiaomi in positive, flies to the stock market and acquires Meitu, at least in part

This morning (afternoon in China), the Chinese giant Xiaomi has finally unveiled the revenues for the third quarter of the 2018 and, to the surprise of a few, are very positive numbers. Xiaomi has in fact collected 50.8 billions of Yuan, that is almost six and a half billion euros, which represents a growth of 49.1% compared to last year. As for earnings, they stop at "only" 2.9 billion Yuan, or about 380 millions of euros, 17.3% more if compared to the same period last year.

After the publication of these numbers by Xiaomi, the company was also improved on the stock exchange with an increase of 5.1%, closing the day in positive and a market value of 299.95 billion Yuan, close to the 38 billion.

But Xiaomi did not stop there, the company then announced a strategic cooperation with the smartphone and imaging software brand Meitu. As we had anticipated a few days ago, in fact, Xiaomi was interested in acquiring some of the assets from the manufacturer of mobile phones, smart products, photo editing software and much more.

From now on, thanks to this cooperation, Xiaomi will be able to launch terminals under the Meitu brand, a bit like it happens with HMD and Nokia, brought back to the top of the market by the Finnish company.

Meitu actually was not in good waters lately, with revenues that had fallen by 23,4% compared to the previous year. Under Xiaomi instead, the company could be reborn, creating smartphones more competitive and interesting to sell to that female audience that was quickly abandoning the Chinese brand that has their strength in them.

In addition to branding, which is still a large part of the acquisition, Xiaomi now also owns the licenses of their smart products globally, different technologies and even online domains.
