Last week, Xiaomi showed the third generation technology to bring the camera below the screen. According to the Chinese brand, the new generation has reached the standards necessary to go into mass production and will therefore be officially marketed next year.
Xiaomi Mi 20 could keep the hole on the display for the front camera
This news has led many users to speculate that next year's Xiaomi flagship will adopt the new one to bring a true "Full Screen" experience. But maybe it won't.
The well-known Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station has in fact just revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 20 (or Mi 11?) Prototype uses a solution with a small perforated screen. So most likely the screen will be similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi 10. Digital Chat Station has however kept clarifying that there is still nothing certain, and it is normal that this is the case since we are about 6 months after the launch of the new device.
Device that, as mentioned above, could arrive with the name of Xiaomi Mi 11 or Xiaomi Mi 20. In our opinion the second is the most logical option and in line with other Android smartphones already on the market (the best known examples include the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20).
In any case, several Chinese bloggers have speculated that the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 may actually be the first Xiaomi device to use under-screen camera technology. We are in fact still waiting for a worthy successor to the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 which had tried to obtain a full screen design with a sliding mechanism, a design that proved itself later poco practical. The Mi MIX 4 could therefore skip all the various fashions of recent years, such as notches, pop-ups and holes, with the adoption of a camera under the display.
After all, the Mi MIX series is the one of design innovations and the one that started the “Full Screen” fashion we can all enjoy the fruits of today.
