We talked about it several times Project Treble, perhaps a topic that interests the most nerds, and that therefore goes hand in hand with the Xiaomi smartphones. Although official compatibility is only aimed at devices that mount the out-of-the-box Android OS, the tech community has managed to bring the support for Project Treble also on the top of the range Mi 6.
Xiaomi Mi 6 can also support Project Treble
As you may have guessed the support is not official since at the moment no Xiaomi smartphone natively mounts the latest OS of Google, with the exception of Redmi Note 5 presented just yesterday in China, but this does not mean that the news of the support for Project Treble for Mi 6 even if not official, is remarkable interest because we remember in poor words that the procedure will introduce two partitions: System and Vendor. In practice, the first partition contains the generic files of Android, while in the second the specific ones of the device needed to start and run the phone, thus allowing the possibility to update the Android OS version in a simpler way.
We also remember that the community has already managed to bring support to Project Treble also on Mi 5 and Redmi Note 4, using the unused cust partition, which then allowed to display a generic system image (GSI) of AOSP Android Oreo. It should also be said that perhaps a few enterprising users will try and find Project Treble support useful as recently Xiaomi released the MIUI Global Stable ROM on an Android 8.0 Oreo basis for Mi 6 and that a first bug detected by the developers who tested Project Treble on this device is related to the VoLTE malfunction, but still remains a hope to see Android P even on the top of the Chinese range.
