Poco less than a month ago we had it there premature and today it seems to have arrived, let's talk about the update that adds DC dimming technology to the Xiaomi Mi 8, the flagship phone of the 2018.
The new feature comes with the MIUI 10.95.22 update in the Chinese Developer ROM, which will then be tested by some users before being released in Stable China and Global.
Xiaomi Mi 8: The DC Dimming arrives in the Developer China
In the update log we can just see the addition of the new feature along with other changes and fixes. After downloading the update it will be possible to go into the screen settings and enable the DC dimming, this allows to decrease the flickering when the smartphone is set to a low brightness. As a result, our eyes will become less tired and we will be able to use the smartphone for longer.
The DC Dimming technology was introduced on the Xiaomi Mi 9 a few weeks ago and is also present on the latest gaming phone of the Chinese brand, namely the BlackShark 2. Xiaomi had promised that the update would also arrive on the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi MIX 3, or at least all the latest Xiaomi devices with an AMOLED screen.

For those who are not aware of the meaning of the term DC dimming, we quickly explain that it is a technology that helps reduce stress on the eyes when using the device at low light. This is achieved by directly adjusting the amount of electric current passing through the display, so less current means less brightness. In fact the flicker on the screen is reduced to low brightness, but as a negative note there is a slight change in the colors that many might not like.
In any case, we would like to congratulate Xiaomi for bringing a feature in our opinion very important on a device for which it was not promoted. In other words, the Chinese giant made a "gift" to the most loyal fans who bought their flagship store the previous year.
