Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 and Redmi 6 Pro finally among us

By now we really know everything about the new tablet Mi Pad 4 that of the smartphone Redmi 6 Pro, but today is still a day of celebration for the Mi Fans as finally both products have been presented to the general public. Mi Pad 4 uses a display in 16 format: 10 from 8 inch with thin frames, resolution 1920 x 1200 FHD, 283 ppi, 1200: 1 contrast ratio, while the entire structure is made of metal and which will be characterized by two colors, gold and black. Processor supplied by Qualcomm, and specifically Snapdragon 660 seen on Mi 6X but even earlier on the Mi Note 3, so performance guaranteed without much effort so much that Xiaomi decided to integrate a specific function for gaming, Xiaomi Game Center that provides multiple game titles. Apparently, Xiaomi has also worked hard on ergonomics, making the new tablet usable even with just one hand, thanks to dimensions of 200,2 x 120,3 x 7,9 mm and a weight of 342,5 grams. The split screen function is also supported, useful for example to chat while we are watching a movie, while at the software level the viewing of streaming TV is supported.

They will be provided 3/4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM memory with 32/64 GB of internal eMMC 5.1 storage with support for memory expansion via micro SD up to 256 GB, while the battery has capacity from 6000 mAh that thanks to the software optimized for energy saving is able to provide about 2 hours of autonomy higher than the previous generation. It will not miss the multimedia aspect powered by one camera 13 megapixel f / 2.0 on the back while on the front we will have an 5 megapixel f / 2.0 optics with support for face recognition using AI technology, but no fingerprint sensor. A lack forgiven by the fact that Mi Pad 4 also arrives in the 4G LTE variant present only on the variant from 4 / 64 GB. Sales prices, which will officially take place from 09: 30 (local time in China) of the 29nd June, will be distributed as follows: 3 GB + 32 GB + Wi-Fi 1099 yuan, 4 GB + 64 GB + Wi-Fi 1399 yuan, 4 GB + 64 GB + LTE 1499 yuan, or 145, 185 and 198 euros at the current exchange rate.

Finally we will find a door USB Type-C but do not worry, you will not have to give up the 3,5 mm earphone jack Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x MIMO dual-band WiFi, GPS (LTE version only) and LTE module (band 20 is not supported) via SIM slot in nano format.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 and Redmi 6 Pro finally among us

The other protagonist of the day is the new Redmi 6 Pro smartphone defined by the same Xiaomi, the best Redmi of all time, almost a top of the range. The peculiarity that immediately strikes the eye is the adoption of the notch, which for the first time appears on a low cost terminal and which continues instead the style seen on the Mi 8 series. Sara can be camouflaged at the software level, while there is no functionality linked to it, which will host capsule, sensors and selfie camera. 5 different colors they will embellish the appearance of the Redmi 6 Pro that will delight us in red, black, gold, Bali blue and gold rose.

The display is a panel from 5,84 inch IPS format in 19 format: 9 with Full HD resolution + 2280 x 1080 pixels, 432 PPI, 500 brightness nits, 1500 contrast ratio: 1 and 84% NTSC color range, with dimensions equivalent to 5,1 inches. Dimensions equal to 149,33 x 71,68 x 8,75 mm and a weight of 178 grams will give space to the adoption of a double camera on the rear composed of a sensor from 12 megapixel f / 2,2 with pixel surface from 1,25 micron, PDAF focus, HDR mode and AI portrait made possible thanks to the second optics from 5 megapixel f / 2,2. It will be possible to record videos at 1080p 30fps but also sow motion at 720p 120fps. The front camera instead is a 5 megapixel lens also equipped with AI portrait mode, Smart Beauty but above all with support for Face Unlock. No information regarding the sensors was given, probably Omnivision + Samsung.

At the hardware level we find the good dear octacore Snapdragon 625 clocked to 2.0 GHz e Adreno GPU 506 while at the RAM level we will have cuts from 3 and 4 GB as well as the memory will have capacity from 32 or 64 GB expandable up to 256 GB via micro SD without renouncing the Dual SIM Dual Standby functionality, as the trolley of the SIM is triple slot. There is no Dual 4G function and alas there is also no support for the 20 band, while Bluetooth is limited to the 4.2 version and the WiFi is a double band (2.4 / 5 GHz). It comforts us that on the Redmi 6 Pro both the 3,5 mm jack and the IR transmitter were retained, but eliminated on the Redmi 6 and 6A minor brothers.

Finally we have one battery from 4000 mAh which will give prolonged autonomy to the terminal. We talk about 34 hours of calls, 16,5 hours in video playback and 7,5 hours in gaming activities. The recharge instead takes place through micro USB input with 5V / 2A support. System MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo with future release of MIUI 10 with support to the AI functionalities related to the Xiaomi voice assistant are the latest features related to the Redmi 6 Pro which is offered at the price of 999 yuan for the 3 / 32 GB variant while the variant from 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage is proposed to 1299 yuan, equal to 132 euro and 172 euro respectively, with immediate sales start.

Xiaomi

Finally we just have to leave with the first unboxing the new Redmi 6 Pro, which is added to the mid range stable and entry level of the company, giving even more choice to its users. Maybe too much as it seems that in small doses, Xiaomi is slowly thinning the difference between top of the range and the more "poor" cousins, which at the level of functionality have almost nothing to envy. And will you buy it considering that the release of a Global version is already rumored within a month?

Nerd, Geek, Netizen, terms that do not belong to me. Simply myself, technology lover and provocative as Xiaomi does with his products. High quality at fair prices, a real provocation for the other most famous brands.
