Waiting for the big presentation event that will take place on May 31 in Shenzen, where the protagonists could be Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi Band 3, the company also allows other small presentations of "minor" products such as today's one in which Xiaomi has launched its new generation router, the Mi 4 Router proposed at a price of 199 yuan, equivalent to about 27 euros.
In terms of design, the new Mi Router 4 is quite similar to the previous generation distinguished by 4 hominidirectional antennas on the rear of which two of them reaching maximum gain values of 5 dBi to 2,4 GHz and the other two 6 dBi at 5 GHz. We also find alarge surface in aluminum alloy - magnesium that serves as a heat sink with further addition of a high conductivity thermal paste. In fact, we also find the holes for cooling, which can improve the efficiency of the cooling system in general.
As for the technical characteristics, we find 128 MB of RAM DDR3-1200 e 128 MB internal memory with an SLC Flash NAND chip , just like its predecessor. The processor has been updated and the one now powering the new Mi Router 4 is a MT7621A dual-core operating a 880 MHz , but retains the ability to offer the connection for up to 128 devices simultaneously.

At the level of connectivity we find a WAN port and two LAN ports, equipped with small LEDs indicating the status of activity. The Mi Router 4 uses the Dual-band WiFi Gigabit WAN / LAN + 2.4G / 5G and supports MiNET to quickly connect smart devices with just one click. Users simply need to press the MiNET button and they will quickly connect smart devices to the router without needing to type in the password. WiFi connectivity supports modulation up to 256QAM , is both a 2.4 that to 5 GHz with a combined speed up to 1.16 Gbps (300 Mbps with 802.11n and 867 Mbps with 802.11ac).
In terms of wireless security, 4 Mi Router supports the WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK encryption, the control of wireless access (blacklist and whitelisting), Hidden SSID, intrusion detection, the DoS protection and SSID isolation. The operating system it uses is MiWiFi OS , based on OpenWRT . The Xiaomi Mi Router 4 will be released on May 25th through the online stores of Xiaomi and partner sites such as JD.com and Suning, but also at physical stores. To understand the speed of this new router I am attaching a video which highlights precisely this quality. It is possible to notice how the WPS Office software (weighing 66,8 MB with a bandwidth of 300 Mbps was downloaded in a few seconds. Furthermore, according to official data (with a bandwidth of 300 Mbps), Xiaomi Mi Router 4 downloads QQ software in an average of 3 seconds; Office (818 MB) takes 22 seconds on average; Windows 10 system download uses 135 seconds (4,57 GB); and LOL client download time (6,8 GB) is 182 seconds. Not bad !!!
