This afternoon, the Chinese technology giant, Xiaomi, launched a new generation of the electric kettle, the Xiaomi Mijia Electric Kettle 2. The kettle has an increased capacity and the price is still 99 yuan in China, about 13 euros at the exchange rate, so there will be no price increase over the previous generation.

In terms of aesthetics, the new product adopts a “7” shaped handle design which reduces the distance from the kettle socket to the ON / OFF switch button, making the operation more convenient. The handle also adopts a rounded design, which makes the product more comfortable in the hands and less painful, especially if the kettle is at maximum capacity.
Compared to the previous Mijia Electric Kettle, the capacity of the Mijia Electric Kettle 2 has increased from 1,5L to 1,7L, which is enough to boil 8 cups of water at a time, so it can easily meet the consumption needs of the whole the family without having to redo everything.
The new product adopts a double layer structure inside and outside to form an intermediate insulating surface and prevent accidental burns.
The inner tank is made of food grade 304 stainless steel. It has a one-piece structure resistant to corrosion and oxidation and is more convenient to clean.
The Mijia Electric Kettle 2 is equipped with 1800W high power heating frame, which can reduce the boiling time of 2W electric kettles by 1500 minutes. Thickened aluminum plate heating frame is instead used for make the heat load more even and boil the water completely.
In terms of safety, the Mijia Electric Kettle 2 uses the British brand's STRIX thermostat, which allows the power supply to accurately snap and stop heating when the water reaches boiling point. It also has quadruple power protection, including automatic shutdown when water is hot and automatic shutdown when dry, high temperature fuse protection and anti-shock design.
