Xiaomi is known for its innovative and beautifully designed smartphones, and one of its most ambitious projects has been the Xiaomi MIX Alpha, a concept phone with a surround screen that covered almost the entire body of the device. Now, it seems that Xiaomi has not abandoned the idea of a surround screen phone, but is working on a new version that could solve some of the problems of the original model. It is about the "Mix Alpha 2“, whose design patent was recently approved and announced by the State Intellectual Property Office of China.
The patent shows that the Xiaomi MIX Alpha 2 would have one curved screen that spans the front, left, and right sides of the phone, with no visible edges. Also, the phone would under-screen cameras for both the front and back, eliminating the need for a notch or hole. The back would have three openings for the rear cameras and a central part separated by a smaller panel, perhaps to house other sensors or functions.
The MIX Alpha 2 would therefore be an evolution of the previous concept phone, keeping the surround screen design but adding the cameras under the screen and side buttons, which were absent in the original model. This could make the phone more practical and functional, without losing its aesthetic appeal.
However, it should be noted that this is only a patent and there is no guarantee that Xiaomi will actually make this phone or release it to the market. A patent might just be a way to protect your ideas or to explore different possibilities. If nothing else, the MIX Alpha 2 demonstrates that Xiaomi continues to experiment and try to push the limits of smartphone technology and design.
