According to the company, these standards will be officially implemented on 15 August 2023, with a posting period of 5 days. During this period, the existing rules will be followed. The press release was issued today through official sources and a few days must pass before it actually comes to life. The developers are already working on this.

Xiaomi has stated that all apps that meet this definition will have to adhere to all control elements in the standards. If an app fails the check, it cannot be published on the Xiaomi App Store. If an app passes the check but problems are later discovered, it will be removed from the store.

But having said that: what does it mean for users? Actually nothing. Or rather, these measures serve to safeguard the end user if we really want to be honest. It goes without saying that all these changes will only have an effect on the Chinese Xiaomi App Store: in Europe such a regulation does not yet exist, although we're getting there.
