The impact on the economy by Coronavirus (Covid-19) has been decidedly negative, often leading to many companies closing their doors. In the context of the Chinese market, our beloved Xiaomi suffered a severe blow that contributes to bringing the percentage of sales to -18% in the first quarter of 2020, considering a personal market share of -26% year on year, ragreaching a total of 7,8 million sales.
A certainly significant drop, in which only Huawei manages to obtain a mere positive figure, in the Chinese market and this we reaffirm due to the cursed Coronavirus. Fortunately for our Xiaomi, things are totally different if we look at the global market, so much so that Lei Jun's OEM manages to win the most significant growth rate for the first quarter of 2020.
Xiaomi does not kneel at Covid-19: global sales of their smartphones are positive
The data is provided to us by the reports issued by the analysis company Canalys, which highlight the fact that despite the negative economic impact by Covis-19, Xiaomi has managed to obtain a high growth rate in terms of smartphone sales . From the chart in question, relating to global shipments, only Xiaomi and Vivo manage to position themselves in the ranking with a postitive growth of 9% for Xiaomi and 3% for Vivo.
Significantly worse fate for the historic giants, such as Huawei and Samsung which record a drop of -17% as well as the drop of Apple, which sees its global shipments drop by -8%. The data analyzed certainly lacks the latest releases from brands, such as iPhone SE 2020 for Apple, defined by many as the cheap iPhone and which should help migrate many Android users to the iOS system.
Undoubtedly it is the mid-range of the market that contributes to the upward trend for Xiaomi, a sector in which the Chinese OEM is able to offer the best quality / price ratio and which for a few days has seen three further models as protagonists, such as Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 and Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite.
