After the success achieved by the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the iconic smartphone with a “full screen and zero frame” surface, the company is preparing to enhance the technology applied to flexible screens. Currently Xiaomi has begun to file the patent which, if accepted, in the near future, will give us the opportunity to see smartphones from the entire surface consisting of the screen.
The Xiaomi patent shows the future mobile device with a totally flexible design solution with the addition of two dual edge screens outside the smartphone frame. According to this technological solution, it will be possible to benefit from a full-screen surface, for each angle, obtaining a wider viewing area in order to offer users a new immersive experience.
There are two types of flexible screen solution: one with a single-flexible screen with a single point of attachment to the other end of the smartphone. Another solution seems to be to adopt a double folding panel with double joining hinges, aesthetically less fulfilling but perhaps easier to accomplish.
The problem of flexible displays is the rest of the components, which certainly can not bend in that way and makes their use a little problematic.
