The Xiaomi Pinecone will cause concern to Huawei

We have already spoken many times about the much-anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5C, not so much for the features with which it will be presented to the general public, but by the presence of first proprietary processor of Xiaomi invoice, ie SoC Pinecone.

Le last rumors gave the presentation of Mi 5C within this month given that the equally expected Xiaomi Mi 6 will shift towards the second quarter of the year due to the problems given by the new Qualcomm processor, the powerful Snapdragon 835. But apparently there may be more variants of the Mi 5C, such as one with a on board the Snapdragon 825 processor. In any case, the second variant could only be a rumor and nothing more because since the first rumors the Xiaomi Mi 5C has been defined as the pioneer about the homemade CPU by the company, precisely the SoC Pinecone.

As far as features of the Pinecone CPU, it seems is similar in terms of architecture and performance to the Snapdragon 808. Maybe someone will snatch the nose, as the Snapdragon 808 is one obsolete chips, but the latter mounts an architecture Cortex A53 with identical performance to the Snapdragon 810, with the precious though of be more optimized from the point of view of overheating. The choice ultimately arises from the fact that the Xiaomi Pinecone can be considered one CPU for mid-range phones and so some shortcomings found on this processor go into the second floor as this is the company's first attempt to free itself from other manufacturers.

In fact, the Xiaomi Mi 5C, codenamed Meri, will feature: 5,5-inch 1080p resolution display, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, 13 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. As you can see, this is a fairly acceptable combination of hardware for a mid-range device, confirming what will be the CPU adopted, precisely the Pinecone processor.

Pinecone is the result of a partnership formed in the 2014 between the company controlled by Xiaomi, the Beijing Electronics Co. Ltd. and Leadcore Technology Ltd., a subsidiary of Datang Telecom. The collaboration led to the formation of the SoC manufacturing company, Beijing Pinecone Electronics Co. Ltd, where 51% is owned by Xiaomi and Leadcore owns the remaining 49%. The company is no stranger to CPU manufacturing since the L1860C Leadcore has already been realized for it Xiaomi Redmi 2A.

The interesting thing is that behind the presentation of the Pinecone processor there is also one website, at least from what is published on social Weibo. On the website, we currently do not find any content other than contact information and other information about the company, all in Xiaomi style. In short, it seems that the company is doing things well even on the point of view of communication, which could create many concerns to the company Huawei, currently the only Chinese manufacturer with its own line of processors.

The concerns at the end of the accounts are also justified by the fact that the performance of the Pinecone processor will be better than Helio P10 from MediaTek  and Kirin 650 from Huawei. In addition, the A53 architecture has the highest clock frequency 2.2 GHz that results more powerful than the Snapdragon 625.

The compatibility and optimization of the software will also have to be seen.
