According to the latest from China, the technology giant Xiaomi would have received authorization for a patent for a SIM with multiple numbers that share resources to save on energy consumption.

According to the Chinese app Qichacha, the patent of “multi-number card-based method, device and means of communication” applied by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. was authorized on February 24, 2023. The date of the patent application is January 3, 2020 and the release date is July 6, 2021.
According to Qichacha's report, the Xiaomi patent “One card and multiple numbers based communication method, device and medium” applied to a terminal with one card and multiple numbers includes: sending a network registration request to the device side network and the request contains an IMSI international mobile user identification; IMSI matches multiple numbers of a multi-number terminal in one card; establishes a radio resource control RRC link with the network side equipment; processes services with multiple numbers in an RRC link.
This application performs the same registration process and establishes the same network link for multiple numbers in the same SIM card, so that multiple numbers can share registration resources and network link resources, so that it can effectively save network resources, resources baseband and radio frequency resources on the terminal side. In other words, the smartphone wastes less battery even with more numbers connected to the network.
