We dreamed with Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, the revolutionary smartphone that brought the full screen display to another level. The surround panel that almost totally embraces the device is one really complex technology and above all expensive. However, this does not prevent our brand from thinking about prototypes and patenting smartphones that go even further. This is the case of a very unique device, with the 100% of the body covered by the screen and a Mi MIX Alpha to the nth degree if you want. Here's what it would be like if it were actually built.
Is it possible to create a smartphone completely covered by the screen? Yes, and this Xiaomi patent attests the brand's interest in proposing one
Indian colleagues of Tigermobiles they discovered inside the portal World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) a patent depicting a smartphone Very unique Xiaomi. It is a device that, at first glance, resembles the Mi MIX Alpha. In reality, however, we note that it differs from the latter in several details. One of the distinctive features of the Mi MIX Alpha is the rear band inside which the cameras are housed. In the patent instead there are no cameras, let alone bands.
As you can see in the image, the device is shown on all four sides. There is no presence of notches nor of holes and in fact the cameras are pop up type. At the top we find an extraction mechanism with ben three sensors and two LED flashes placed at the ends. On the top, immediately next to the pop up slot, there is a physical button which surely serves to unlock the device. The most important thing, however, which we left for last, is the total absence of vertical bands and any contamination on the screen: the two curved edges continue to carry the screen across the surface.
That said, it is only a patent and a prototype it will certainly not be long in coming, but with great difficulty Xiaomi will put it up for sale. We saw how the Mi MIX Alpha also had problems.
