Fast charging day, two companies have just announced the imminent launch of two fast charging technology, respectively at 125W for OPPO e 120W for iQOO (sub-brand of Vivo).
Leak: Xiaomi Super Charge Turbo 100W will arrive next month
But as we have known for several months, Xiaomi will not be outdone and she is also ready to put the 100W Super Charge Turbo on the market. So slightly lower than those of OPPO and iQOO just mentioned, but still more than enough to recharge your device in the blink of an eye.
Well, today the famous Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station has once again reminded everyone that the smartphone on which we should find this recharge is already on the assembly line, to be precise from Foxconn. In addition, with fast charging via cable we will also find an equally performing wireless one; but the leakster has not released any technical data about it.
Previously, Lin Bin, co-founder of Xiaomi and vice president of the Xiaomi group, had released a video showing us the 100 W fast charging technology. The laboratory test data showed that with the Super Charge Turbo 100W it was possible to recharge a smartphone with a 4000 mAh battery from 0 to 100% in just 17 minutes.
In the first half of this year, however, the president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, had stated that the 100W fast charging technology had already entered the initial phase of mass production, indicating that Xiaomi would market the Super Charge Turbo soon after.
Lu Weibing also pointed out that fast charging technology comes with 5 issues to be addressed:
- Battery capacity loss: the higher the charging speed, the greater the battery capacity loss. According to preliminary estimates, with a 100 W fast charge it will lose about 20% of its capacity compared to a 30 W PD fast charge. In a nutshell, a 5000mAh battery will behave like a 4000mAh battery;
- Technical realization: very high voltage charging scheme;
- Performance: how to make 100 W charging not only technically accessible, but also adaptable for long periods of time;
- Safety: multiple protections are needed for the motherboard / battery / charger, etc.
- Cover multiple charging scenarios: consider wired charging, wireless charging and charger compatibility.
