We continue to talk about Xiaomi Car, the Chinese company's project which provides for an annual production of tens of thousands of electric cars. As we have seen previously, the first prototype of the brand's electric car will arrive not before the 2024. Consequently, all we will see up to that point (or thereabouts) is mere speculation. Today we go to see one of the possible features of the Xiaomi auto, revealed through a patent filed yesterday with the Chinese regulator China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
A new patent sheds light on a possible feature of the Xiaomi Auto: ben 5 between cameras and camcorders on the roof of the car
With authorization number CN216184878U and application number 2021226774288, this patent bears the title simply of "vehicle". Indeed, in the only image he carries with him, the bodywork of the future Xiaomi Auto. It is clear that this will not be the design at all, but let's leave these details out. The most important thing we can notice is the presence of five small rectangles on the roof of the car. What will they ever be? Looking at the sections projected towards the front, we will understand immediately.

Xiaomi Auto will probably integrate some cameras / cameras on the roof of the bodywork. From the patent extract we read that the first "block" will consist of a module with two cameras that are used for collect images and information only in a target direction. These cameras have different fields of view for looking in different directions and at different amplitudes. The other cameras / camcorders will be used as accessory to expand the quantity and quality of data that the car user will receive on the integrated display.
A similar, though not the same, system is used on cars from Tesla. Specifically, there is a camera housed in the structure of the rearview mirror on Tesla Model 3 e Model Y.
