Xiaomi: SAR values are within the norm, here's how they are tested

Today like yesterday, the average user is poco attentive to certain characteristics of a smartphone. The eye goes to the design but rarely you look at what are there radiation emissions of mobile devices. Let's face it: how many Xiaomi users are looking at the values before buying a smartphone? There are, but they are few. Today, however, the brand wants to reassure us taking us inside one of the laboratories where smartphone radiation is calculated and tested.

How many SAR emissions do Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones have? A trip inside the laboratory explains how they are calculated

Which SAR value has my smartphone Xiaomi? This is the question we are asking ourselves today. The Mi Insider program, via Twitter, has decided to give this answer to every interested user. But first of all, what is the SAR value? The specific absorption rate o SAR expresses the measure of the percentage of electromagnetic energy theoretically absorbed by the human body when it is exposed to the action of a electromagnetic field radio frequency (source). But there are dangerous values, values within which the body is not in danger and values that are tolerable, but not really safe.

According to the certifications of various bodies, the limits imposed by law are different: the CE certification determines a limit of 2.0 W per kg while the FCC certification  determines a limit of 1.6 W per kg. In the video disclosed by Xiaomi, where we see the good PR Daniel as the protagonist, we are shown how these values are calculated on smartphones. Specifically, the measurements are made in tubs filled with a particular gel which simulates the density of the human body. Based on the propagation of the waves, we understand the level of radiation that a smartphone gives off.

Xiaomi's measurements also take place via the CSAR 3D System, developed by the Swiss company Schmid & Partner Engineering. In short, the machine works in a range from 300 MHz to 10 GHz and simulates the electromagnetic waves within this spectrum. At the end of the video it is confirmed that the SAR values of Xiaomi smartphones are below the limit allowed by law, ergo, they are secure.
