We have had the opportunity to try it, but we do not know that the update in question is available to everyone. This is the transcription of the videos, which we have already seen on the desktop version of YouTube. Let's see the details.
YouTube for Android is getting closer, in terms of features, to the desktop version. A recent update adds transcription of the videos… and it's done right too!
Before showing you the functionality of transcribing videos on YouTube, we remind you that this comes for smartphones, therefore for the Android OS. This function is already present on the desktop version of the platform. To facilitate the use of long-term content (the opposite of the “Shorts” feature to be clear), YouTube has inserted the transcript of the videos. It is not the subtitles, mind you, but a real transcription of thevideo description area. We show you in the pictures below.
The transcription of videos on YouTube is accessible by going to the description area of a video, where we usually find the credits or promotional material. Below (photo on the left) you will find the option "Show transcript". By touching the button, you will find (photo in the center) the transcription for every few seconds. We are amazed by the quality of word recognition. By pressing the three dots (photo on the left) there is the possibility of change language. At the moment, of course, we can only use Italian but it is not excluded that English will also be included in the future.
As we anticipated, the update could have reached everyone as the opposite could be true. In any case, if you want to take advantage of the transcription of the videos on YouTube we recommend you update the app via Play Store.
