Just yesterday our Simone told you about the new update, to be precise, that of the 367 week, that Xiaomi has released for its custom ROM with the MIUI interface and that among other things adds the function of the facial release two models. The lucky smartphones to receive this function following the update are the Xiaomi Mi 6 and the Mi Mix 2.
On the other hand, Xiaomi could not but expand the functionality of the unlock of the face for the two top of the range, after the smartphone Redmi Note 5 Pro has virtually been inaugurated with this function natively. The new face unlocking feature for Mi 6 and Mi Mix 2 uses the front camera to identify the user by giving preference to the hue of the complexion therefore, compared to iris recognition and recognition by "scanning" 3D is less secure. In fact, people with similar aspects to yours can unlock your device by exploiting the vulnerability of facial recognition, but the function remains anyway a plus that should not be underestimated and that goes perfectly with the unlock by means of fingerprints, undoubtedly safer than any other form of release.
UNLOCK FACE MAYBE NOT THE MOST SECURE UNLOCKING METHOD
Security aside, to add this new feature, Mi 6 and Mi Mix users will need to upgrade to the latest version that should normally be notified via OTA. Then to enable the release with the face you will need to go in the path Settings -> Screen lock -> Password and fingerprint -> Add face data. With this additional biometric recognition method, users of Mi 6 and Mi Mix 2 will benefit from more choices to unlock their device, such as pattern, password, pin, fingerprint and unlock face, so that their privacy is protected from access side. What do you think, will you exploit this new feature?
Maybe on the max me 2 would have been more appropriate, or not?
The company is also working on the Mi Max 2 Oreo update which will certainly incorporate the Unlock Face
That would be cool, but I have serious doubts that such an update will happen, xiaomi has shown that with updates it doesn't get along so well.
