The famous benchmark platform for smartphone performance, AnTuTu, has increasingly expanded its business in recent years by creating new rankings not necessarily related to the performance of the tested devices. In fact, we have a ranking for the most popular smartphones (which we got to see in this article), as well as the one that shows us the top 10 devices based on their specific / price ratio.
AnTuTu releases the ranking of the most counterfeit smartphones, there is also a Xiaomi
Well, a new ranking seems to have come out today which includes the 5 most counterfeited smartphones on the market. Yes, you got it right, AnTuTu managed to calculate the number of fake smartphones tested on its platform. We suspect this was possible thanks to the software created by the company that manages to check the originality of a device.
In any case, let's see in real numbers. Let's start with the number of counterfeit smartphones, which AnTuTu found to be 7931 out of a total of 1295457 checks performed.
As for the ranking instead, it surprised us to find the Samsung W2019, an old flip phone from Samsung, in first position. In particular, AnTuTu would have found 498 counterfeit clones of the device, more than any other terminal on the market.
In second place we have, to the surprise of a few, the iPhone X with 246 clones, followed by the iPhone 8 in third with 213 clones and the iPhone XS Max in fourth with 172 fake terminals. What's in fifth position? Well, clearly a Xiaomi smartphone, we are on XiaomiToday after all. Specifically, we find the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, one of the most loved phablet ever and released in July 2018.
Here too, as for the Samsung W2019, we were amazed to see the Mi Max 3 in fifth place in the ranking with 127 clones on the market (certified). To which the question arose: why counterfeit an already relatively cheap smartphone? Unfortunately, the Chinese company does not provide us with any official explanation and honestly we cannot find one.
If instead you have a theory that explains why the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is one of the most counterfeit smartphones in the Asian country, please let us know in the comments section below!
Finally, let's quickly recall some of the specifications that we find on the Mi Max 3, starting from the huge 6,9-inch display, with Full-HD + resolution (2160 × 1080, 403ppi) and aspect ratio of 18: 9. powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 as a processor, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. On the camera side we have two rear cameras with 12MP and 5MP resolutions, while in front we have an 8MP one with support for Face Unlock. Other specs include a massive 5500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a USB Type-C port.
