Perhaps it was inevitable, considering the amount of smartphones that the Xiaomi brand produces from its laboratories every year, but the news still angers many users. We are talking about the cyclone that in these hours is investing the owners of the Mi 8 series but also Mi Max 3 and Mi Mix 3, who will have to deal with the stop to official updates for their devices. Generally it took 4 years from the official debut, before the support from the brand ended but for some time the years seem to have been reduced to 2 if not less.
Starting from next September 5th, there will be 8 devices that will remain without official updates and therefore will result in the company having completed their life cycle.
The Mi 8, Mi Mix 3 and Mi Max 3 series receives the stop to the official support of Xiaomi
The unfortunate smartphones, which actually have grinded absurd sales and therefore there are many units in circulation, are those listed below, therefore for them the MIUI 12 represents the end of the updates:
- Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite
- Xiaomi Mi Max 3
- Xiaomi Mi 8 SE
- Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
- Xiaomi Mi 8
- Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
Surely you will be surprised to find your smartphone in this list, considering that they are almost all devices of 2018 and that they still have a lot to offer, therefore the future developments of the MIUI interface would certainly have benefited these terminals too. However, Xiaomi is not of the same opinion by decreeing the cancellation of official support for future updates for them. So the only solution will be to resort to modding as the company seems to guarantee only security corrections and poco other, even if we know that from this point of view the brand does not stand out particularly for the speed of the release of these fixes.
What makes us turn up our noses is that Xiaomi had accustomed us well, supporting their creatures for long years, while now the time has been halved. It 's true, there are brands that do not update their devices and I am not referring to the classic "Chinese", but everyone has bet on Xiaomi also because of the support it has guaranteed over time to their terminals. This news shocks not only the owners of the 8 offending models, also because there are no real arguments to justify the end of the support, but also all those who approach the brand and who are attentive to the theme updates.
In my opinion they only suspend beta updates and not the official ones ...
dear riccardo maestri, the XIAOmi policy for the single market [EU] is no longer under the control of XIAOmi. you will well notice that even the latest models of smartphones have changed that brand and even if it remembers the original brand, it cannot be exploited by third parties who do not acquire copying and patent rights. the management and administration for the EU has certainly changed and, probably, Spaniards and Italians and still others from Eastern Europe are now exploiting the brand for money laundering and to clean up the proceeds of the drug trade of Russians and immigrants. happens... I am a mi8lite owner. obviously i don't take it well, but the change of course in xiaomi politics is clear, since she put her nose out of china. the thing i don't like and i think it won't make me orient on xiaomi for the prox smartphone, is that it is continuing to come out 600 models per month. continues with the so many smart policy at a slightly higher price than a year and a half ago, perhaps he still wants to pass it on with the story of the net margin below 5%, but the support decreases. it is clearly one way...
