The advance of Xiaomi continues in markets outside of China with yet another success this time coming from India. The Chinese giant has in fact confirmed its position at the top of the ranking as regards the total number of smartphones sold. Success then shared with other Chinese brands that we will see later.
The new data comes directly from the IDC (International Data Corporation), that is the first world company specialized in market research, consulting services and event organization in the ICT and digital innovation sectors.
Xiaomi grows in India as well as Vivo and Oppo, badly Samsung
According to the data collected by the aforementioned company, Xiaomi has sold (or at least shipped) over 12 million units in the third quarter of the 2019. This represents an annual growth of 8,5% compared to the end of the 2018 in which more than 11 million units were sold.
In any case, although the brand has grown compared to the previous year, the market share has actually decreased by around 0,2%, to be precise from the 27,3% of the previous year to the 27,1% of now. This is due to the exponential growth of other brands in the Indian country like Vivo, Oppo
In fact, Realme is the brand with the greatest development compared to other manufacturers, with an annual growth of over 400%. Obviously this is also due to the fact that the brand has just over a year of life.
While big brands like Vivo and Oppo that were not very popular in India before, they also grew by 58,7% and 92,3% respectively.
Finally, the only disheartening figure in this ranking is for the only non-Chinese company still on the list, Samsung. The Korean giant has indeed seen a reduction in sales of 8,5%. With an increasingly smaller market share that will most likely bring the brand down from second position, to the third or fourth in the months and years to follow.
