Less than 48 hours from the official presentation of the Xiaomi Mi 10, already set for February 13, the Chinese brand seems no longer interested in hiding the specifications of its device. So here after having revealed the final design of Mi 10 yesterday, today Xiaomi amazes us again by announcing practically all the specifications of the main camera.
Xiaomi Mi 10: 108MP sensor with EIS and OIS, HEIF format, 8K video and Zoom 50X confirmed
Let's start from the main sensor which, to the surprise of a few, will be the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX, or the famous 108MP sensor that we also find on Xiaomi Mi Note 10. The main value of which is not only the number of pixels, but the size of the sensor itself. We are talking about an area of 1 / 1.3 inches, larger than those of many other sensors used on flagships to date.
The main camera will then be accompanied by two types of video stabilization, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), therefore both electronic and optical. Now, however, it is unclear whether at least one of these technologies will also be adopted by the ultra wide angle secondary sensor or the telephoto sensor used to take portrait photos.
If instead you worry about the difficulty of taking 108MP photos or taking up too much memory on the smartphone, Xiaomi's co-founder, Lei Jun, replied:
The Xiaomi Mi 10 supports the HEIF format, which can reduce the file size by at least 50% while maintaining the same image quality. HEIF is an efficient image file format based on the HEVC encoder.
Lei Jun
Lei Jun then showed an example photo in both JPG and HEIF format. The JPG format had a size of 12,1 MB, while in the HEIF format it dropped to 4,43 MB.
But it does not end here, because Xiaomi seems to have gone "all-in" in the photographic sector. Several sources suggest that the smartphone can take photos with a maximum zoom of 50x, obviously it is a combination of optical and digital zoom.
While as regards the videos, although not yet officially announced, it seems that the image above suggests the possibility of taking videos with a resolution of 8K.
In any case, apart from the cameras sector, the smartphone promises to be also one of the best performing on the market thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, a minimum of 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, internal UFS 3.0 memory with new generation Turbo Write and much more.
Now we just have to find out the official price, day 13 at 14:00 (in China).
