La RedMi series was born as an economic version of the top series Mi. Lately, however, it seems that Xiaomi wanted to reconsider the role that the RedMi series can actually cover in the company's "smartphone catalog". Already the predecessor had stood out for build quality and price slightly above the average (of the other RedMi), but it will be RedMi Pro 2 to mark the turning point for Xiaomi's mid-range series?
It is always believed that anyone with a RedMi smartphone is very careful not to make their own spending budget, but as already said, RedMi Pro this assumption was not respected as its launch price exceeded the budget of many fans but - far be it from me to criticize the performance of this smartphone which is truly excellent -, at the same time, it marked the history of the RedMi series with a focus on the performance and quality of the materials, which until then had always remained in the background for this series.
RedMi Pro marks the beginning of a new set of Xiaomi smartphones?
Definitely with RedMi Pro Xiaomi wanted to turn the page, at least for a part of its smartphones dedicated to those who do not look for the top of the top but who are not satisfied with cheap materials. In fact RedMi Pro makes its "dirty" figure compared to what was the RedMi series a few years ago and the build quality of the same leaps immediately in the eyes: just think of the bending 2.5D glass which until then was considered almost a dream by the fans of the RedMi series.
Let's not forget that the launch price of the initiator of this series was poco higher than $ 200 (about 200 euros) and that, instead, the first RedMi were around 135 euros: the explanation is to be found first of all in the exchange, but above all in the product innovation that has allowed Xiaomi to also implement the inside of its mid-range smartphones technologically advanced solutions (eg double camera, body entirely in metal, etc ...).
Actually, however, as you can see from this leaked image from the Taobao site on the Chinese social Weibo, the price of the new RedMi Pro 2 it should not be cheaper and, indeed, it should be superior to that of launching the first version!
In fact, a pre-sale price ranges between 1599 and 1799 yuan (between the 220 and the 245 euro) !!
If we want to find good news about this alleged RedMi Pro 2 - of which we remember that the image does not officially nor officially confirm the design - it's the fact that the RedMi series could be very similar to the Mi series.
In fact, the aesthetics of the new Mi 6, leaked even in numerous renderings lately, would confirm the similarity with this RedMi Pro 2 that, for the first time, would abandon the squaring of the lower front fascia to make room for two backlit keys exactly like those of the more expensive Mi. series
Finally, we just want to dwell on a detail that surely will have escaped the most, also because there should not be many fans of "Mandarin": what are we referring to? There have been well 6 fan to have already booked the new one RedMi Pro 2 relying solely on presumed specifications, or rather on a presumed image since the details have not even been the subject of rumors yet!
