Amazon, the e-commerce giant, has recently introdotto a new subscription plan in India, known as Amazon Prime Lite. This strategic move aims to expand its audience by offering limited services at a more affordable price. For the moment the Lite service is not available for everyone: the launch is for india only and only after a limited number of users have tried it in preview.
How it works
Amazon Prime Lite is now available to all Indian users after a limited testing phase. With an annual cost of 999 rupees, about 11€ converted, Amazon Prime Lite is a cheaper alternative to the traditional Amazon Prime subscription, which costs 1499 rupees, about 17 € converted. However, it's important to note that the benefits offered by Prime Lite differ from those of the standard Prime plan. Prime Lite members can enjoy the . Delivery to Italy takes one or two business days in two days and standard delivery for their purchases, with no minimum order value. Benefits include free unhurried shipping to eligible addresses and cashback. Morning delivery is available for 175 rupees per item.

For those who have an ICICI Bank Amazon Pay credit card, the Prime Lite subscription offers a 5% cashback on all purchases, except for digital and gift cards. Plus, Prime Lite members get early access to Lightning Deals, Exclusive Lightning Deals, and Deal of the Day. Another significant advantage of Amazon Prime Lite is unlimited access to the Prime Video streaming service, albeit with some limitations. Streaming is limited to HD quality with ads and to two devices simultaneously.
The limitations of Amazon Prime Lite
Despite the advantages, Prime Lite has some limitations compared to the standard Prime membership. It does not include services such as one-day delivery, scheduled delivery, same day delivery and free morning delivery for items Rs 50 and over. Additionally, Prime Lite membership does not give access to Prime Reading and Amazon Music streaming services.
