Xiaomi, or to be precise the Baseus brand which is part of the Xiaomi Youpin ecosystem, has just launched the new Baseus GaN Charger & Power Bank 2-in-1. An accessory equipped with a foldable plug, which acts as both a battery charger and a power bank and can recharge laptops at a power of 45W; let's go find out more!

Let's start by specifying that the Baseus GaN Charger & Power Bank 2-in-1 is available in two versions, one with double USB Type-C ports and one with both USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports (i.e. the ordinary one) . However, both versions come with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable that supports a maximum power of 60W (can also be used for data transfer).
In any case, as mentioned above, the charger arrives with the GaN technology. GaN, or gallium nitride, is a new type of semiconductor material, which has several characteristics that make it ideal for these uses, such as high thermal conductivity, resistance to high temperatures, resistance to radiation, resistance to acids and alkalis, high strength and finally high hardness. Using gallium nitride components, the charger can therefore be more compact and lighter in size, as well as bringing greater advantages over older chargers in terms of heat generation and conversion efficiency.
Given that we talked about dimensions, the charger / power bank measures only 103 x 64 x 30mm and comes with a 90 ° folding plug to make it even easier to carry.
As for the power supplied, the Baseus GaN Charger & Power Bank 2-in-1 supports a maximum power of 45W. It can therefore be used to recharge smartphones, laptops and other energy-intensive devices. In the particular case of the MacBook Pro, Xiaomi claims that two hours are enough to fully recharge the laptop.
Turning to the power bank side, the device integrates a 10000mAh battery, compatible with the standards QC3.0, SCP, FCP, AFC and other rapid charging protocols. It also supports PD3.0 bidirectional fast charge.
Finally, for prices, the Baseus GaN Charger & Power Bank 2-in-1 is now on sale in China for 199 Yuan, about 26 euros. The price will rise to 228 Yuan (30 €) in the following days.
