In the wearable landscape, up until now, Xiaomi was the only true user to purchase a product that had a very important construction quality, equally important hardware quality and a very low sale price. Obviously we refer to the Xiaomi Mi Band in every generation. However, the competition is unlikely to look at and the next 29 July will release the new Cubot V1, the smartband featuring OLED displays with the cost of just $ 15.
The technical features of this wearable are similar to those of the Mi Band 2, although there is no presence of the heart valve:
- SoC: Dialog DA1458 Low Consumption Bluetooth 4.0 chip
- Sensors: Freescale triaxial accelerometer MMA8652
- Display: 0.88 inch, OLED with 128 x 32 pixel resolution
- Battery: 80mAh, about 30 days of stand-by
- Charging via Micro USB
- Compatibility: Support for 4.0 Bluetooth, Android 4.3 or later, IOS7.1 or later
A substantial difference that unfortunately comes in favor of the newcomer is the charging system. While Xiaomi adopts a proprietary charging system that, while having a very cheap cost (around the 1,50 Euro), forces users to take over an extra accessory, the Cubot V1 adopts a Micro USB connector, currently the most standard widespread in the world.
We will see in the coming weeks how the situation will evolve, when surely the first comparisons between the two bands will emerge on the net. Do you think Xiaomi must be afraid of the arrival of this super-cheap band or is its popularity so much that the sales of the newcomer will not affect it?
