DxOMark changes protocols: here's how it will evaluate smartphones

Think about how much Xiaomi spammed his Xiaomi 12Ultra in the last period before the release. But from today, perhaps things will change since the portal has updated its own evaluation methodology.

To keep up with today's standards, DxOMark Labs is updating smartphone testing protocols to ensure that scores reflect reality more accurately. For example, common scenarios for using mobile devices are considered. Specialists have already revised previous tests taking into account current trends, as a result of which some have occurred changes in ratings

When testing smartphone cameras, DxOMark experts now take the scenery di recovery, the quality in low light conditions and the results in outdoor and indoor conditions even more. In particular, the experts will try to evaluate the cameras in terms of conditions close to real ones. A survey conducted by the company showed that realistic and pleasing skin colors, shutter speeds and facial details are important for the average user.

Based on the new test methodology, Honor Magic 4 Ultimate e Huawei P50 Pro remained in first and second place in the camera rankings, while the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max moved up in the rankings. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon version) has also gone up, but HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro +, Xiaomi 12S Ultra e Pixel 6Pro they have slightly lost ground.  

The changes affected even audio tests. More attention will be paid to wind noise on recordings and the presence of audio zoom, a function that tells which sounds to highlight when using zoom while shooting.
