La wireless charging is one of the most popular technologies on a smartphone. At the moment there are few devices that can count on a really high power, among them only a few Oppo and some Xiaomi. Convenience, however, is beyond doubt: putting a mobile device on a base without attaching the charging cable is a dream. Also Google Pixel 5 is equipped with this technology but it has a particularity. It turns out that, when attached to the charger, the sensor dedicated to the wireless charging activates by itself. Or rather, the one dedicated to reverse charging is activated which allows you to charge a third-party device directly from your smartphone. Battery Share is the name of the service that allows Google Pixel 5 to turn into a power bank. Via the settings menu or a quick change of settings, you can quickly activate the function and charge any Qi-compatible device from the earphones to another smartphone. The interesting thing, however, is that the Reverse Qi wireless charging activates by itself. When connecting the device to the mains via USB type-C, the device activates the service. But is this normal? Apparently yes and the brand replies on the official forum to clarify.
According to a moderator on the official forum, the service Battery Share is automatically disabled after a few minutes if it does not detect any other compatible device nearby (in contact, better to say) of the smartphone.
When your Pixel phone is plugged in and charging, Battery Share turns on automatically for a short time. If the phone does not detect another device using power during that time, Battery Share turns off.
