Furthermore, the Pixel captures excellent macro images, thanks to the automatic switching to ultra-wide angle at very close distances, like most devices in the Ultra Premium segment. The qualitative leap compared to the Pixel 7 Pro (12MP 1/2.86″) was more evident at the ultra-wide angle. Near-to-medium telephoto zoom was also good, with a 48MP sensor with an f/2.8 lens.
Photos and zoom were evaluated in SDR mode, because Dxomark felt it was the best mode currently available for photography. The analysis and evaluation of this device is based on photos and SDR renderings. Since viewing HDR content depends on many factors, such as the viewer screen and the application used, the photos shown in this review are shown in SDR, meaning they do not have the HDR gain map applied. Viewers with HDR screens will be able to see SDR versions of photos.
