Il Google Pixel 8a has been at the center of attention for some time, with rumors and leaks continuing incessantly. Even Google Fi accidentally revealed some details about what we can expect from the upcoming device. Well, now a well-known leakster has spotted the phone on the website of a US operator.
Google Pixel 8a leaks again, caught on the site of a telephone operator
The leakster in question is Evan Blass, who was quick to locate the Pixel 8a on the UScellular site. The operator had apparently uploaded a tutorial for the device before promptly removing it. However, Blass managed to capture a screenshot that revealed the Obsidian color variant, along with the previously leaked Porcelain, Bay, and Mint colors.
Design-wise, it seems like the Pixel 8a is taking a different path from its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. It features more rounded edges and thicker bezels, unfortunately the operator's website does not reveal the back of the device. However, the leaks so far suggest a switch from the 7a's glossy finish to a matte texture.
It is also rumored that the Pixel 8a will be equipped with a OLED display from 6,1 inch and with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1.400 nits. The device could be brought to life by Tensor G3 chip, although likely in a slightly scaled-down version compared to the one found in the Pixel 8 series. Battery life could also receive a boost over the 7a, according to recent rumors, perhaps with faster charging capabilities.
In any case, Google I/O is around the corner, scheduled for May 14, and the tech giant is expected to announce the smartphone on that occasion.
Finally, we talk about a price increase compared to the Pixel 7a from $499, which could shake up the mid-range phone market of 2024. Whether that will affect its chances of being the best mid-range phone of the year remains to be seen. With a renewed design and improved technical specifications, the Pixel 8a is a candidate to become a point of reference in its segment. However, the potential price increase could represent an obstacle for some consumers in an increasingly competitive market.
