Xiaomi is in fact the first smartphone manufacturer in the Asian country for quite some time, surpassing more long-lived and renowned brands such as Samsung, LG, Lenovo Apple etc ..
India could become the global smartphone maker Xiaomi
Going back to the present day, today the vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manger of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, has revealed that in India there are 7 factories for the production of Xiaomi products and that the country could become the international production center for the Chinese brand.
Always according to Kumar Jain, Xiaomi is working closely with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partners, that is, those who produce the components, such as Foxconn and Flextronics, to increase the number of units produced. Although already today there are two factories dedicated only to the production of smartphones that manage to supply 99% of the units sold in India. So, at the moment, almost all Xiaomi devices in the Asian country are locally produced.
But this milestone does not seem to be enough for the manager of Xiaomi India. In fact, Kumar Jain wants to transform India into the world's leading smartphone maker. This means that, for example, smartphones purchased in Italy may in the future come from India and not from China. In reality, however, Xiaomi India is much more likely to export its devices to neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal and so on.
In fact, some speculation suggests that Xiaomi has already started a program to export smartphones to the two countries just mentioned.
Finally, according to the latest statistics regarding the Indian market for the third quarter of 2019, Xiaomi India produced and shipped over 46,6 million units, an increase of 9,3% over the same period of the previous year. Xiaomi also has a 27,1% market share in the country.
