The great wait is finally over, and even though we already knew everything about this device, it did Xiaomi Redmire Pro was officially presented a few minutes ago during the press conference set by Xiaomi for today. Without going too far, let's look at this new Xiaomi device right away.
As already widely anticipated, the Redmi Pro abandons the classic LCD used by Xiaomi until now to opt for an OLED panel with more vivid colors and higher contrast. The display is a beautiful 5,5 ″ inch unit in full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with 2.5D technology, ie the edges are rounded. At the base of the display we find a large "home" button made of ceramic that also contains the sensor for fingerprint recognition and the two soft-touch side buttons "back" and "multi-tasking". In the upper part there is the classic sensors (including the RGB notification LED), the ear capsule and the 5 MP front camera.
The body is made entirely of brushed metal with a care in the design really high level that justifies the appointment of flagship series Redmi of this device. We find only two thin plastic bands to allow a perfect reception of the various antennas, while at the base we have two perfectly identical grids (reserved respectively to the main microphone and the system speaker) and the USB Type-C input for charging. Superiorly we find the input jack 3,5 mm, the second microphone for the suppression of background noise and the infrared sensor. On the right side we find the classic buttons to raise / lower the volume and the on / off / stand-by button, while on the left there is the trolley for the two SIM / SIM + micro-SD (hybrid).
Let's go to the focal point on which Lei Jun has stopped several times during the presentation of this device, that is, the dual rear camera. It consists of two sensors of which the "main" is a Sony 13 MP IMX258, while the one dedicated to detecting the depth of field is a Samsung 5 MP. When taking a picture, both sensors work simultaneously but the basic thing is that image processing is done through a dedicated dedicated processor (ImagiQ) that allows DoF processing right after capturing the image. It completes all a dual biton LED flash horizontally placed between the two sensors.
Inside, however, we find a true top-of-the-range hardware base, as we find a deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 CPU with tri-cluster architecture (the basic version has a Helio X20), i.e. there are 2-cores for heavy operations (A72 at 2,5 GHz), 4-core for intermediate operations with the right power / performance ratio (A53 at 2,0 GHz) and 4-core for basic operations / energy saving (A53 at 1,55 GHz). It is accompanied by a Mali-T880 GPU and the different variants of memory cuts, ie 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64/128 GB of internal memory expandable via micro-SD. A 4050 mAh battery, VoLTE support and all the classic connectivity (including dual-band Wi-Fi) complete the whole.
Finally, it will be available for purchase from 8 August (in China) in the three gold, silver and dark gray at the following prices (of course the price will increase for us to import):
- Redmi Pro "base" 3/32 GB and Helio X20 = 1499 Yuan (poco more than 204 €);
- Redmi Pro "high" 3/64 GB and Helio X25 = 1699 Yuan (poco more than 231 €);
- Redmi Pro "top" 4/128 GB and Helio X25 = 1999 Yuan (poco more than 272 €).
