The new generation smartphones, especially those belonging to the high and very high end, are equipped with a screen LTPO. So far we have seen two "generations" of screens of this type. OnePlus 9 Profor example, it uses a first generation LTPO screen. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, equips the second generation one. But when will LTPO 3.0 arrive? It seems that next month it can debut, much to the surprise of all users.

Before we see the news, let's see what an LTPO screen is and how it works. It is a new generation technology that allows you to create low temperature polycrystalline silicon oxide glasses. Basically this procedure is capable of improve the management of activated or deactivated pixels. This results in a high energy saving which translates into the possibility of manufacturers to integrate slightly smaller batteries. This solution can somehow be the "definitive" one in that solves the problem of autonomy.

According to a well-known Weibo insider, LTPO 3.0 technology which will arrive in April will be primarily focused on energy saving, which is quite impressive considering 2.0 screens can adjust their refresh rate between 1 and 120Hz. The leaker says the new generation should be announced in April 2022, so we can expect the first smartphones to be released in 2023 or later this year.
Unfortunately the source does not mention more details on the new generation of LTPO, but we are already waiting for what to see in the new versions. After all Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has already shown that it is able to significantly increase the autonomy of iPhones with this technology, occupying one of the best positions in energy efficiency tests among high-end smartphones.
