Upgrading to the new MIUI interface does not change the version of Android, therefore on Redmi Note 6 Pro will remain the current Android 8.1 Oreo while for Redmi Note 4 and Redmi Note 4X is still Android Nougat to power everything. It is not clear why Xiaomi to leave the Google OS unchanged, as terminals with the same hardware, ie the Snapdragon 625 equipped for example on Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Y2 and Redmi 6 pro instead have the Oreo version, albeit the hopes of a future release still remain standing.
As already anticipated, the update will be notified via OTA, gradually or if you do not want to wait you can proceed with the download of the ZIP file of the OTA update and install it manually by going to the menu Settings> About phone> System updates> Menu (3 dots at the top right)> Choose the update package. Just select the file you just downloaded to proceed with the flash of the MIUI 10 Global Stable for your device without any data being deleted.
