Apparently Xiaomi has started recruiting volunteers for the closed tests of the new widget system of the MIUI 12.5 proprietary skin. This, in its latest version, should bring many innovations and the lucky ones who have joined it (we mean Chinese users) notice a great similarity to iOS. While waiting for us "mere mortals" to use and take advantage of these innovations, let's see what the company has been capable of for now. Here's what the widget in question.
According to what revealed by Chinese sources, the new features include:
- new grid, added the new 2 x 2 - 4 x 2 - 4 x 4 - 2 x 3 options coming to four widget sizes in total, with a leaner and cleaner layout
- widget shop: a large assortment is promised by the company
- a selection of system application widgets, such as clock, health, memory management and other smartphone parameters and so on
- option freely drag and drop widgets
It is understood that for the time being these features will be exclusive for early beta testers who have joined the program. This program starts today and will run until August 27, while the actual tests will begin on August 17th and will last until next 20 October. Eligibility requirements include an Android 11-based phone and a Chinese beta version of MIUI 12.5.
