New goal for the Redmi series

The vast repertoire of Xiaomi smartphones can be grouped under two large sets, the first of which belongs to all smartphones in the "Mi"While the second is the one to which all the devices of the"Redmi". Essentially, what differentiates these two sets is basically the market / price range they are proposed, as the "Mi" series is placed in the mid-high range, offering devices with a relatively good hardware base and performance, while the "Redmi" series is placed in the mid-low band, although the bass has only the price compared to other competitor devices.

Precisely for this reason, the devices belonging to the Redmi series are those which the user tends to prefer most with the consequent acquisition of a higher reputation, as we had already seen previously in another article | 7 of the most used smartphones in China are manufactured by Xiaomi |. This leads us to ask a question: but really, how successful did the Redmi series get? The answer to this question came directly from the company's top plans and more specifically from the CEO himself, Lei Jun.

According to what was reported by Lei Jun, since the creation of the first device of the Redmi series in July 2013, it has made a quantity of shipments that exceed 100 million units and are close to reaching the 110 million of units. This value represents a very significant data for this specific category of smartphone that goes to demonstrate the great appreciation of the Redmi series among users. Currently, the Redmi series has 9 different variants (excluding the Pro variants and those not mentioned that according to Xiaomi are equivalent to the classic variants), namely: Redmi 1, Redmi 2, Redmi 2A, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note / Note Prime / Note 2 / Note 3, which on average correspond to about 12 million units sold for each model.

Since the beginnings of the Redmi series, Xiaomi has never paid attention to profit (which is really minimal) but rather to the general satisfaction of the end user, especially considering that some of its older devices are still officially supported with continuous updates ( MIUI), which many other manufacturers do not do.
