Clamshell smartphones capture the attention of those who are looking for a compact device that does not neglect design and aesthetics. But the fact that they have to be both foldable and pocket-sized decreases battery space, which is why flip phones have notoriously poor battery life and need to be recharged often.
To solve this problem, the OPPO brand has decided to bring a battery with greater capacity, but this is simple on a flip smartphone. Due to its size, it becomes difficult to insert a large battery, as well as fast charging, especially when the hinge and folding mechanism take up so much space, which is why most flip phones have batteries below 4000mAh.

OPPO has therefore looked for different methods to carve out the space necessary to insert a larger and more powerful battery. For example, 100mAh more has been recovered by redesigning the space dedicated to the SIM card, saving 2,2mm of space. Furthermore, the displacement of the output grid made it possible to recover 78 mAh more, finally managing to insert the 4300mAh battery.
This extra capacity translates into a 17% improvement in battery life, giving you up to 20 hours more YouTube playback or 53 hours Spotify listening than other flips. Furthermore, OPPO Find N2 Flip has an autonomy equal to a whole day on a single charge, allowing an experience ever closer to traditional smartphones.
As far as fast charging is concerned, as mentioned earlier flip phones are also at a disadvantage when it comes to fast charging because these systems require a very large battery. But OPPO has surprised here too, with the OPPO Find N2 Flip integrating the best-in-class 44W SUPERVOOC flash charging, which takes the phone from 0% to 34% in just 15 minutes.
Since flip smartphones are so unique in their small size design, creating a fast charging system with excellent durability, even after a large number of charging cycles, is very challenging. To do so, OPPO has revised its proven fast-charging dual-cell design by incorporating a larger cell – 3110mAh – and a smaller one – 1190mAh – for a total of 4300mAh.
Also, to ensure long-term battery health, it is necessary for both cells to charge and discharge simultaneously, OPPO has thus created the "Dual-Battery Charging System", adding a control switch to the parallel circuit. When the charging chip detects that the small battery has reached a certain charge level, its voltage is disconnected and it starts charging the larger battery. When the larger battery is approaching 100%, the power reverts to the parallel branch scheme, so that the battery as a whole can achieve the same charge and discharge times as traditional smartphones.
On top of that, OPPO has also made the device's temperature management state-of-the-art by incorporating a split heat dissipation design and separating the charging chip from other heat-producing components. The phone is then equipped with a four-sheet graphite layer to dissipate heat evenly across the entire surface, ensuring that the maximum temperature does not exceed 41,5°C.
Finally, too DxOMark subjected the OPPO Find N2 Flip to a rigorous series of battery tests to measure its performance in terms of autonomy, charging and efficiency.
- The score given to the autonomy is 100 out of a maximum of 188 achieved in the smartphone market.
- The DXOMARK battery charge score, consisting of full charge and quick charge, achieves a score of 112 out of a possible 181.
- The energy efficiency score, on the other hand, is composed of the Charge up and Discharge rate values, which combine the data obtained during a typical usage scenario taking into consideration the device's battery capacity. In this case it scored 124 out of a possible 154.
The tests on OPPO Find N2 Flip position it as the best flip in terms of battery, demonstrating how OPPO has succeeded in its attempt to fill the gaps in the sector.
