Foldable Oppo with display outside: here is the patent

The era of foldable smartphones she has arrived but it seems that for obvious reasons she finds it hard to be loved. They are not easy to use and still very fragile, the attempts and the various OEMs to bring such devices to the market are many. Oppo from his side is also thinking of one folding smartphone and the team of Leadsgodigital brings us a really good patent. It is a futuristic device in features, which differs from the devices of this kind that we already know because of the . In fact, the various foldables that you see online or in specialized stores have one screen that folds inwards, while the brand's folding has one that folds outwards. Very risky, but it makes a bad impression.

Oppo also thinks about its folding: this patent shows us a foldable that folds outwards. Great idea, but doable?

It seems dangerous such a device and the effects, at least for now, it is a patent. L'Oppo foldable that we see in the photos immediately below has this peculiarity: a that instead of bending inwards, then closing like a shell, folds outwards. In technical terms this device is called "clamshell". Another peculiarity of the device is its particular length: it seems that the brand is went beyond the 19.5: 9 format and has thought of a smartphone more intercom than anything else. On the other side, however, we see a really skimpy silhouette and gods non-existent edges.

Here we see the scheme of the device presented on the patent document presented in January 2020 and approved only yesterday. In the upper part we see a sort of case without screen: inside there are a magnet and a Hall detector which serves to determine how the user uses the spartphone so that the interface can be adjusted accordingly, in a completely automatic way. The mechanism that allows you to fold the Oppo device is cylindrical, and is placed almost in the center of the body (if we can call it that).

As for the unlocking technology, the document mentions the iris recognition. To do this you need a photographic sensor that we find in correspondence with the metal part, the one where there are the magnet and the Hall sensor. Here we can see the other cameras as well.

These are three:, accompanied by a LED flash. From the 3D render above, however, we also understand another thing: the folding Oppo smartphone it can only be used when open. In fact, if we notice, when the interface is closed it is not automatically adjusted to the size of the display divided in half. In short, only if the shell is open can we fully use the smartphone with coloros. But what are the disadvantages of this device? Clearly one of the most obvious is the fragility of the screen.

oppo folding patent

While with a normal smartphone only a part (i.e. that of the display) with the folding we are talking about is exposed, in the pocket for example two parts are exhibited. This means that the panel is subjected to numerous moments of stress that can result in scratches and cracks. For this reason Oppo will have to think of a solution for this problem. After top up at 125W you will have to work to develop a protection that can allow you to use the folder in complete tranquility.

The photos you see are 3D renders and don't show what the foldable device will look like in reality
