Oppo unveils the future of mobile photography in 4 novelties

During the online conference Future Imaging 2021, Oppo showcased some of the latest imaging technologies for mobile devices. Specifically, he presented a periscope camera module with continuous optical zoom, a sensor RGBW new generation, a technology of stabilization octave 5-axis and a proprietary solution for sub-screen camera with patented artificial intelligence algorithms.

Oppo has decided to amaze: in 4 novelties we summarize the revolution in photography that the company has decided to unveil. We will see some good ones!

The sensor RGBW updated, according to the brand, significantly increases the sensitivity of the sensor matrix to light by introducing additional white subpixels (W), DTI technology and Oppo 4-in-1 binning. This can capture 60% more light than the previous generation sensor and it can reduce noise by up to 35% for clearer, brighter images in low light conditions.

The proprietary 4-in-1 algorithm significantly improves sensor color perception. The new sensor DTI pixel isolation technology effectively prevents sub-pixel crosstalk and improves the image quality. Advanced beautification technology and deep processing with textures and contrast help the sensor to make portrait photos more expressive. The novelty will be integrated into Oppo smartphones starting from fourth quarter of the 2021.

The company has also introduced a new camera module that provides one continuous optical zoom at equivalent focal lengths ranging from 85mm to 200mm. This will allow you to obtain sharp images at any magnification, from macro photography to landscapes, without the need to frame. This became possible thanks to a series of proprietary developments.

The technology of G + P lens design (glass + plastic) uses two ultra-thin aspherical glass lenses to enhance the optical effects. The use of a tunneling magnetoresistance sensor (TMR sensor) allows the lenses inside the camera module to move with greater stability and precision.

The new technology of 5-axis optical image stabilization of Oppo allows the processor to acquire motion data using a gyroscope, analyze it and classify it using new algorithms. After analysis, the data is transferred to two mobile modules: a lens and an image sensor, driven by ball bearing motors.

Technology provides a maximum stabilization angle of ± 3 °, three times that of the traditional OIS model in smartphones. Whether you are shooting at night or on the move, it can greatly improve the stability, clarity and color of the image and increase the vibration compensation up to 65%. The new development will be installed in Oppo smartphones starting in the first quarter of 2022.

In addition, the company showed its solution for the camera under the screen. The new pixel geometry provides a 400 ppi image density in the sensor area. The use of transparent cables and a new design allowed the brand to find a balance between the screen and the quality of the footage.

Finally, the Oppo Research Institute in the United States has developed a series of artificial intelligence algorithms for image processing, including diffraction reduction, anti-condensation, HDR and AWB, to better optimize the image quality of the sub-screen camera. The announcement date of the first smartphones with invisible front sensor will be communicated later.
