Il Public register of oppositions (RPO) extended to all national numbers, including mobile phones, is active and available to citizens, as required by Presidential Decree no. 26/2022.
The main novelty of the service of the Ministry of Economic Development and managed by Ugo Bordoni Foundation, concerns the possibility of expressing one's opposition to contacts for telemarketing purposes in a simplified and centralized manner.
It is indeed sufficient register the number for free in the RPO of which you own to cancel the previously released advertising consents. Enrollment in the register also cancels consents for the transfer of their data to third parties, which is why the citizen often does not know who can contact him or who to directly exercise his right of revocation.
La withdrawal of consent is effective both on calls carried out with human operator both automated ones (called "robocall"). Once signed up the number in the RPO, you will be able to receive only telemarketing calls from subjects with which the citizen has a active contract or ceased for no more than 30 days (for example, their telephone or energy utility operators). In any case, the citizen is always entitled to cancel the consents to advertising calls by these subjects, by contacting the companies concerned directly. Furthermore, after registering with the RPO, calls may be received from subjects to whom specific consent will be issued, which may in any case be canceled by renewing the opposition.
Among the other innovations of the service reserved for the citizen there is also the the features of the"Selective withdrawal", Aimed at revoking the opposition for specific operators from which it is actually intended to receive promotional calls.
Postal RPO
Il Registration public of opposition extended to mobile phones continues to be also valid for paper mail, although it remains limited only to postal addresses on public telephone directories. By registering with the Postal RPO, you will not receive nominative paper advertising from marketers who use public telephone directories for contacts.
How to sign up
To register your phone number in the RPO are available three registration methods: web, telephone and email. Furthermore, the registration procedure has been simplified compared to the previous version and now it is necessary to communicate only the telephone number, demonstrating the possession thanks to a verification to be carried out interacting with the systems of the Registry.

Requests for registration to the RPO are handled within one working day of sending and become fully effective in 15 days for telephone marketing and 30 for postal marketing (maximum time periods within which operators acknowledge citizens' objections).
What changes for operators
For telemarketing operators, on the other hand, theobligation to check monthly with the RPO le lists of numbers they intend to contact for the purpose of sending advertising material, direct sales, commercial communication and carrying out market research. This verification must take place anyway before the start of each campaign promotional.
An important innovation of the service that concerns the operator is the new Reserved Area designed for simplify procedures of interaction with the RPO and with several more features. Operators will be able to send list of contacts, by accessing the Reserved Area or via PEC. Lists come returned within 24 hours from submission, with the indication for each number whether it is registered or not and the eventual date of cancellation of consents.
Automatic subscriptions
It is important to note that the objections given in the past for fixed numbers only concerned calls made from public telephone directories. For this reason, the direct consents provided for these numbers remain valid, but can be canceled through the new functionality "Renewal"Of the registration.
