Today, Xiaomi not only officially presented the MIUI 9 in Stable but also launched a new series named Redmi Y, which sees in his stable the Redmi Y1 and the Redmi Y1 Lite. Particular attention is given to the most interesting model, the Redmi Y1, which is characterized by a self-powered 16 megapixel camera equipped with flash LEDs.
They are not top-of-the-range devices, but entry level, which in India, where the event took place today, is a huge consensus from users. This is the first time that Xiaomi focuses on the selfie mania and then waiting to test it personally, we present some small preview of the Redmi Y1 by those who have already had the pleasure of testing it.
It is a sober and classy construction, as it does for other terminals in the Chinese house, but it is comfortable and functional. Retro made of plastic but with a metal reinforcement so as to make the body structure more solid.
Display not very bright but with 720p HD 5.5 resolution diagonal inches that apparently does not seem to impress much, at least compared to models like the XmiumX Redmi which instead had astonished. However, the Corning Gorilla Glass protection is good.
To power the Redmi Y1 we find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, a 64-bit octa-core coupled with 3 GB of RAM memory and 32 GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD card (there is also the 4 GB version of RAM and 64 GB storage). No benchmark tests have been performed but in principle the performance of normal use should be satisfied with honors. The 3080 mAh battery should guarantee excellent autonomy by virtue of the processor poco energy-consuming and the low resolution of the display, therefore the day of use will be largely exceeded.
As mentioned above, there are 32 GB of internal memory expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card that will be housed in the dual SIM dummy cart with the possibility of 4G connectivity on both slots without losing the function of Dual SIM Dual Standby.
It will be the MIUI 9 to animate the Redmi Y1 which will receive the official update in the middle of November. MIUI 9 brings with it a higher speed in terms of application execution as well as optimized feedback about CPU acceleration and background processes. Improved notification management, as well as split screen function and new animations for icons.
In short, a speed, if not better, of Android Stock but with all the MIUI interface personality. But let's go back to the Redmi Y1, which is the 16 megapixel front camera, coaxed by a flash LED, to illuminate but without "burning" the portrait face details.
The one who tried it claims that the photos taken are far better than the classic selfie of other devices, especially when compared to the price range in which the Redmi Y1 is located. However, it is unclear if, in the case of poor lighting conditions, the LED flash plays an important role in reducing background noise.
On the back, we find a 13 megapixel camera with PDAF capable of delivering good photos in good lighting conditions, but in terms of quality when it tends to diminish. Finally, you will find the technical data sheet of the Redmi Y1 device:
