Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon X75: Advanced 5G and WiFi 7!

Qualcomm announced Wednesday today new solutions for next-generation mobile connectivity that promise to solve the main obstacles of 5G. The flagship product is the Snapdragon X75, the world's first radio frequency modem compatible with 5G Advanced, which promises up to 20% more energy efficiency than the Snapdragon X70. There are many new features compared to before. Let's see them in detail together.

Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon X75 modem with 5G Advanced and a new solution with Wi-Fi 7. For fast and always connected smartphones!

Introduced less than a year after its predecessor, the Snapdragon X75 5G features a new built-in AI processor, Qualcomm 5G AI Processor Gen 2, which enables more than twice the performance on machine learning tasks compared to the previous generation to improve device connectivity. Furthermore, Qualcomm 5G AI Suite Gen 2 offers optimizations for network connections in 5G frequencies, also based on artificial intelligence, to ensure higher speeds and wider network coverage.

The Snapdragon X75 5G features new carrier aggregation capabilities for mmWave and sub-6 GHz, ensuring maximum network stability. This is the first platform in the world to reach ten-carrier aggregation. Smart Transmit Gen 4, meanwhile, ensures faster upload speeds and now supports Snapdragon Satellite. Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cellular Connection at Qualcomm, said:

The Snapdragon X75 Modem-RF System demonstrates the breadth of our global leadership in 5G, with innovations like hardware-accelerated AI and support for upcoming 5G Advanced features unlocking a new level of 5G performance and a new stage in cellular communications

A new mmWave antenna module called “QTM565” works in conjunction with a transceiver to reduce the cost, manufacturing complexity and power consumption of the Snapdragon X75 5G, so that it meets the specifications of the 5G Advanced, considered the “new stage of 5G” which addresses the limitations of the initial network implementation. High power consumption in mobile phones, tablets and other mobile devices, connection instability and high latency are some of the aspects that companies will try to solve with 5G Advanced and Qualcomm is ahead of the competition by introducing the Snapdragon X75 5G as first compatible solution on the market.

Qualcomm used the Snapdragon X75 5G showroom to announce the 5G Fixed Wireless Access Platform Gen 3, a new fully integrated platform that combines connectivity solutions for 5G Advanced in sub-6 GHz and mmWave, support for Wi-Fi 7 Tri-Band and 10Gb Ethernet on a single circuit. The fixed wireless access platform promises to benefit carriers by having one cheaper solution to bring the 5G network signal to rural communities, dense urban areas and regions that are difficult to access, which, according to Qualcomm, will represent a new step towards ending the digital divide.

Its new architecture reduces the company's footprint on the environment, as the energy consumption is significantly reduced compared to the previous generation. A processor's energy efficiency is important because a chip that uses less power produces less heat, requires less energy to cool, and increases battery life. This translates into cost savings for the user, but also into a positive environmental impact. In fact, if mobile device manufacturers use energy-efficient processors, it will reduce electricity consumption, e-waste production and greenhouse gas emissions. The energy efficiency of processors is therefore important for environmental sustainability and for reduce the impact on the planet.
