We are used to thinking about Redmi as a brand that produces cheap, but quality smartphones. The idea of a gaming device, at least to us users, it never came to mind. We have previously seen the emergence of smartphones such as the Note 8 Pro with processor dedicated to gamers, yet we have never referred to the device as a gaming smartphone. Apparently, however, the company has a plan: according to what the CEO said Lu Weibing, the launch of an ultra-performing device dedicated to the videogame sector is expected by this year.

This morning Lu Weibing, nice administrator of Redmi, announced via a post Weibo that the company has big plans for 2021. A year of redemption without a doubt considering what happened during the last 2020, but not only. The Chinese giant wants to aim even higher with one gaming smartphone. This news comes in tandem with that which sees the Redmi K40 as the first in the world to equip the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. But is it right to do 2 + 2? Maybe not.
We are not sure, on our part, that the company's first gaming device will be the K40, the K40 Pro nor that it integrates the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. As far as we know this SoC features the same GPU as last year and if the brand wants to offer something that really amazes, we don't believe this chipset is the right one. Clearly it is not even said that it is a processor of the Taiwanese house. There may also be a powerful smartphone with one in the plans Snapdragon 888+. Indeed, no launch has been announced anytime soon and as a result Redmi may be waiting for Qualcomm to launch the most powerful SoC never built to date.
