Lu Weibing: Redmi K30 Pro will be more expensive than K20 Pro

Competition in the mobile market is becoming increasingly fierce and high-end devices are now used to demonstrate the technological advancement of manufacturers to make people talk about themselves and at the same time push sales of medium-low-end smartphones. Therefore, almost all the brands that typically released mid-range devices are desperately trying to enter the high-end market, Xiaomi's sub-brand, Redmi, is an example.

Lu Weibing: Redmi K30 Pro will be more expensive than K20 Pro

However, we are increasingly seeing a rise in prices in this category. Like the last Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and the OPPO FIND X2 PRO, both much more expensive than their predecessors.

Last night, however, the vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, spoke on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter), of the next Redmi K30 Pro.

Specifically, Lu Weibing said that: “To create a true high-end flagship, today we must use the best materials at all costs. For example, today a single 100MP module is more expensive than the module with three 48MP cameras from the same period last year. To this we must add the other three cameras and calibration costs, software optimization, etc .. ". The Redmi GM also revealed that the complicated process that leads to the creation of a true flagship will be discussed at the Redmi K30 Pro conference.

In Lu Weibing's post, some Chinese users then commented: "It is implied that the price of the K30 Pro will always be higher" and Lu Weibing did not hesitate to say: "This is for sure, the cost of the optical sensors + 5G RF is over 1000 Yuan (120 €) more. "

A figure in line with those seen in the Xiaomi Mi 10 series released last month with a starting price of 3.999 yuan (€ 510), or 1.000 yuan more than the Mi 9 series. Now, the K20 Pro, known in Italy as Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, released last year, started at 2.499 yuan (€ 320). So, logically, considering that Redmi is a cheaper brand, we expect an increase of "only" 500 Yuan, about 60 euros, for a total price of 2999 yuan (380 €). If instead the increase will be 1.000 yuan, we are talking about an initial price of 3499 yuan (440 €), but this would then be too close to the Mi 10 which costs 3999 Yuan (510 €).

Redmi K30 Pro

Previously, Lu Weibing had clarified that Redmi K30 Pro will not be a "cheap edition", but a "real flagship". He also made a clear distinction of positioning with Xiaomi Mi 10: the Mi 10 series will have complete flagships, while K30 Pro will have the value for money as a strength.

What does this mean in practice? Well obviously we will find the excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as a processor, supported by LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 memory. We will find 5G connectivity, in addition to WiFi 6. While the solution to reach a full screen will be that of the pop-up camera.
