The new series of Redmibook 14 presented a few months ago had left many of us a little perplexed. In fact, we were wondering why the Xiaomi sub-brand, which notoriously aims to bring relatively cheap devices to the market, had decided to launch laptops equipped with processors that were not cheap (and they are not yet, Intel i5 and i7 ), actually increasing not poco the final price of the product.
Well, today the brand that became independent last January, Redmi, seems to be back on its feet with a new variant of the RedmiBook 14, this time powered by an Intel Core i3, which is the lower end of Intel's desktop processors. Let's find out more!
RedmiBook 14 now cheaper with Intel Core i3-8145U
So let's start with the CPU, which is specifically an eighth-generation Intel Core i3-8145U, with two cores, four threads and a maximum frequency of 3,90 Ghz. The new processor is then supported by only 4GB of RAM and 256GB of ultra-fast SSD-type memory.
All other specifications remain unchanged, so we have a screen with 14 inches and 1920 × 1080 resolution, 5,75mm edges and a 81,2% screen to body ratio. Even the GPU remains the same, or an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 for consumption of only 25W.
The RedmiBook 14 is not the thinnest of Xiaomi laptops with a thickness of 17,95 millimeters, while the weight settles on the 1,5kg. Among the other features on board of the laptop we find the DTS technology for an improved surround effect, Smart Unlock 2.0 and a special mode created by Xiaomi with the name of “Modern Standby” that allows you to wake up the laptop instantly on demand.
Finally, as for the variants launched previously, the RedmiBook 14 with Intel i3 also has 10 hours (on paper) thanks to the 46W battery, which supports fast charging to get to 50% in 34 minutes only. While the ports available are power supply, audio jacks from 3.5mm, HDMI, 2xUSB 3.0 and 1xUSB 2.0.
The price of the new Redmi 14 with Intel Core i3-8145U will be 3199 Yuan, or on the 420 €. Therefore cheaper than the version with Intel i5 which instead starts from 3999 Yuan (520 €), but still remains a purchase on which to reflect given the low amount of RAM.
