The Eurobursar Cyanogen, as promised, has finally released the update to CyanogenOS 12.1 for all OnePlus One still equipped with this operating system. The update in question brings Android Lollipop 5.1.1 on the first smartphone of the Asian manufacturer but, according to some reports, today it seems that only the 2% of users received this update.
If you are the owner of a OnePlus One and have not yet received the update via OTA, you can download it manually link and update your device manually. The update package just posted consists of a total weight of 645 MB and can be run independently of any version of Android you have on your device. In fact, if for example we were to meet with Android KitKat 4.4 there will be no need to update to Android 5.0 before moving to the version 5.1.1.
Among the major innovations introduced by this update, apart from the new version of Android, there is the patch for the known vulnerability Stagefright, a vulnerability that could have allowed hackers to take control of our device through a particular multimedia file that could be received through an MMS.
This is what is written in the update notification:
"This update provides critical security fixes for your device to address recently publicized vulnerabilities on Android devices. As this is a sizable update, please allocate 20 minutes for the installation process and ensure your device is fully charged before proceeding with the installation "
Another interesting addition is the introduction of the home button in the web browser Chrome which, after this update, will have the famous search engine of Microsoft, or Bing.
Cyanogen continues to open more and more towards services offered by Microsoft... that a collaboration between the two companies is in sight?
