Samsung presented its new processor Exynos 2400, which promises to offer exceptional performance in terms of CPU, GPU, AI and satellite communication. The chip, which will be used in the series Galaxy S24, is based on the ARMv9 architecture and integrates an RDNA3-based AMD GPU.

The Exynos 2400 processor has a configuration ten cores, composed of one Cortex-X4 core at 3,1 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores at 2,9 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2,6 GHz and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1,8 GHz. Compared to the previous Exynos 2200, the chip offers a 70% increase in CPU performance it's a 14,7x increase in AI processing power.
The Xclipse 940 GPU is the brainchild of collaboration between Samsung and AMD, and exploit the third generation of the RDNA architecture. The GPU has double the graphics computing units compared to the RDNA 2 and supports ray tracing, a technique that allows you to simulate the effects of light on objects in a realistic way. Samsung has demonstrated its processor's ray tracing capabilities with some games that make use of it, such as those that include more accurate global illumination, reflections, and shadows.
The Exynos 2400 processor it is also capable of generating images locally from texts, thanks to AI performance optimization for mobile devices. This feature can be useful for creating custom content or translating texts into images.
One of the most impressive features of the Exynos 2400 processor is its ability to support two-way satellite communication. Samsung collaborated with Skylo Technologies to create this feature, which allows smartphones equipped with the chip to connect to satellites to send and receive data even in the absence of a cellular or Wi-Fi network. This can be useful for emergency situations or remote areas.
Samsung said the Exynos 2400 processor it will be available in the first quarter of 2024 and which will be the heart of the S24 series of smartphones. The chip positions itself as a direct rival to the Apple A series, Qualcomm Snapdragon and MediaTek Dimensity processors, which currently dominate the mobile chip market.
