Here's how global smartphone sales are going according to Gartner

The smartphone market, due to the chip crisis, it's not exactly rosy but Gartner's latest research states that the trend is actually very positive. We expected a decrease in terms of sales and instead it is quite the opposite: the mobile device sales have increased in spite of everything. But what will the numbers be? Let's see them together.

The analysis company Gartner states that global sales of smartphones to end users in the second quarter of 2021 amounted to 328.8 million units. This means the 10.8% more compared to the same period last year. Analysts note that growth was achieved between the negative impact of the pandemic and the lack of components.

The market leader is Samsung. However, the South Korean manufacturer's share for the year decreased from 18.4% to 17.6%, although it managed to increase sales from 54 to 57 million units. But the share of Xiaomi, which is in second place, increased over the year from 9.5% to 15.5%. This is a consequence of the increase in sales from 28 to 51 million devices.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is in third place. During the year, it increased its sales from 38 to 49 million units. As a result, Apple's share increased from 12.9% to 15%. The top five brands also include Oppo and vivo with respectively 10.2% and 9.8% of the market. A year ago, Oppo's share was 8.0%, while Vivo's was 7.7%.
